It seems obvious in retrospect, but people without life experience that includes a wide variety of experiences like tragedy and discrimination and humiliation and triumph and loss and failure and etc. just can't write good stories

They don't have a sense of realism and gravity

Like when you watch Evangelion and you think "Wow, the author of this story must have had a life that -sucked-."

Then you watch, say Elfen Lied, and you think, "This person must have watched Evangelion"

You watch/read SAO and you think "This person must have played a lot of Ragnarok Online"

some people are just boring in real life too

@O Jesus I think that the soundtrack was one of the things they could have improved, none of it was that good Imo :| about characters being shallow, I suppose you could be right, that thought hasn't even occurred to me before. One thing I can't agree on is the plot being shallow though, the whole mmorpg-setting was just perfect, at least for someone like me who's spent years on mmo's

i wonder what they are gonna do with shingeki though, the manga doesn't have much chapters. How many of you think the anime will be incomplete?

@touka Yeah I meant after the first 3 episodes, it had amazing action, animation and soundtrack but apart from that the story and characters were pretty shallow and not well developed

Generic hype train anime pandering to MMO playing otaku. I though it was average at best, the second half was pretty much incest elf online. People will always jump on the seasons action show though and claim it's the best ever, that's how the western fandom rolls.

but everyone here knows that it turned worse towards the end, dunno why we even bother mentioning it (although I think you meant like first 3-5 episodes, not 12-13)

@O Jesus the first 12 episodes were probably the best I've ever seen, but after that it turned much worse

@DoesItReallyMatter @touka The characters actually get something to do in the storyline. At like ep 6 till 8 it suddenly transforms into some bad Loli anime however that loli gets a role later on which makes it ok i guess. Overal sword art was a very good anime however there were like 8 rotten episodes of fan art and cliche's in it which kind of ruins the total score I give it

unfortunately never played mmo. but i really want to. my brother nagged me to play LOL for a while but never got the chance to. (sniff, sniff)

@DoesItReallyMatter his reasoning for being a lone wolf wasn't flawless, but still okay (such as not wanting to share epic loot), just wondering if either of you two have played any MMO's, say WoW for example? I wonder if that has something to do with not being able to relate to the series

@touka @DoesItReallyMatter she was ok. hated the guy. he was a typical shounen guy with an added gloomy, lone wolf complex (which sickened me) that made me want to scream "dude get over yourself, you're just a teenager. You have your full life ahead of you. you are the main character so you definitely won't die. good things happen to the living (unless you are in the tv show the walking dead)"
